CSBA eRegister for Community Skilled Birth Attendants
The CSBA eRegister is an electronic version of the existing paper-based CSBA Register. CSBA or Community Skilled Birth Attendants are those FWAs under DGFP or female HAs under the DGHS who have been given 6 months training on Skilled Birth Attendant (SBA) and appointed to work as CSBA in their catchment areas. They are the frontline Maternal and Newborn care (MNC) service providers at the community level.
How does CSBA eRegister work?
Once any person is registered, CSBA can retrieve particulars of that person as a service seeker or client from the hand-held device (Tablet PC) or from Population Registration System (PRS) database using unique ID which is provided during registration or performing a search using different parameterses of the clients are also available from relevant database tables. While visiting the households, the CSBAs can find particular persons based on search performed on numerous parameters. They can then use different modules of the eRegister such as Maternal and Newborn Care for providing services and recording data. The electronic systems under the DGFP and DGHS are interlinked and the same population database, which eliminates duplication.
Key Components of CSBA eRegister:
Antenatal Care (ANC)
CSBAs provide Antenatal Care (ANC) services to pregnant women by registering instantly (NRC) or previously registered through PRS in the community. This system are able to alert the provid- ers automatically in case of any complicated mother for referral.
Delivery and Newborn care
CSBAs provide delivery & Newborn care services also by registering instantly (NRC) or previously registered through (PRS). This system are able to alert the providers automatically in case of any complicated mother for referral in higher facilities.
Postnatal Care
CSBAs provide Post Natal Care (PNC) services (at least 4) to mother and newborn by registering instantly (NRC) or previously registered through PRS in the community level. This system are able to alert the providers automatically in case of any complicated mother for referral.
Integration with LMIS
CSBA as Service Delivery Point (SDP), receive misoprostol from upazila store for distribution to the clients. CSBA eRegister is connected with MOHFW Supply Chain Management Portal (SCMP) – a separate DGFP database, and updates stock-distribution data end of the month through adjustment of closing balance with opening balance.
Job aid with medical intelligence
Development of Job aid tools is novel in nature and made possible due to use of digital technologies. CSBAS can access pregnant women list as well as service based list such as ANC, Delivery, PNC wise client list based on geographical location. This eRegisters built in medical intelligence allows the provider to identify the high risk pregnancy while recording pregnancy information (LMP, EDD, previous pregnancy history). Also this system has the provision to notify the provider instantly if the client needed to be referred to the higher level facility. E.g. during routine ANC visit, if a pregnant woman identified with high Blood Pressure (BP), system automatically detects that this woman needed to be referred and notifies the provider.
Data sharing and use
The data can be shared horizontally and vertically within and between the directorates (DGHS and DGFP)- i.e. Family Welfare Visitor (FWV ), Sub Assistant Community Medical Officer (SACMO), Female Health Assistant (fHA) and Family Welfare Assistant (FWA). Thus, it eliminates the likelihood of duplication or double reporting from same facility and community level as denominator is same and enforced through central database. Data collection is easy, timely and effortless. This would be pivotal in ensuring the quality of data
